![]() ![]() Load times are also noticeably on the long side, which is never great for a portable title. ![]() More worrying is the fact that the text is absolutely tiny, which is difficult to make out on Vita’s screen (how this works on mobile phones I have no idea – I can only imagine it being serviceable on PSTV or big screen PC). This continues to the menus, which go for a military theme that doesn’t have any particular excitement to it. Generally there’s a lack of ambition which makes the whole thing feel a little stale and the colour palette is always a bit muted. There were moments where the game’s graphics surprised me – one set of levels set on the deck of a ship in a rainstorm reminded me of the tanker chapter from Metal Gear Solid 2, while another set in an Arabian-style marker with coloured lanterns everywhere was great – but overall I’d describe things here as decent without ever being exceptional. In the areas you’ll be breaching and clearing, you can zoom the camera and will get slow-more shots of terrorists being shot (thankfully no blood) while the movements of your squad have slightly jerky animation work but generally look good enough. ![]() You can customise your squad with some awful preset faces, while their equipment visibly changes on screen as you upgrade. It’s simple and it works.ĭespite being a mobile title originally, Breach & Clear feels like it hasn’t made the transition to handheld particularly well from a graphical perspective although it still functions okay. Just as in those titles this never bothered me – this is a fantasy creation after all and only gives the loosest of justification for you to go in and take down bad guys in combat scenarios. Placing you in a combat simulator for military students, Breach & Clear tasks you with taking down terrorists within the confines of this virtual reality world as part of a special forces squad.Ĭut from the same cloth as games like SOCOM and Unit 13, the setting in Breach & Clear takes a rather propaganda-ist view of the world by having you play as patriotic US soldiers taking down middle-eastern regimes in stereotypical fashion. ![]()
